Festival of Quilts 3

Just some of the rest that caught my eye.
'Roadwork 1' by Sue Dawson - this I like because it's
the normal everyday things that we can look to for
inspiration but often get overlooked ........................
Some would argue as to whether this is a quilt or not
but I love it, Margaret Woodside's 'Pearl Essence'..........................
I love simplicity, it's always harder to achieve than it appears.
'Country Terrace' by Sarah Nicol......................
One of my favourite fabrics is denim so I love this piece,
Bea Sewell's 'The Mawkin's Coat'.................................

Festival of Quilts 2

Whilst waiting to go into the show, you queue!
I chatted to some really nice people in the queue each day
I was there.

I'm always drawn to pieces with figures, parts of figures or
impressions of figures. It's probably because I am useless
at figure drawing of any description.
This is a detail from Laura Kemshalls winning quilt
'Pearl Essence' ................ I love this piece 'Friendship' by Susan Chapman .................

Bente Kultorp Andresen 'Tango' - a great piece.............
Gill Theokritoff of Region 10 'Karma' a very clever
piece .............................
'Portrait of my life' by Sonja Thalen-Maat is a miniature!
A detail of 'Sikh and Find' by Helen Godden shows amazing
detail..........................
'Growing' by Patricia McCurdy is a thoughtful piece ................
These few pics show the diversity of work using the human
figure as its inspiration.
Hmm............lots to think about.

Festival of Quilts 1

Home again after 10 days away in Birmingham on a
caravan site about 15-20 minutes away from the NEC.
I've made a huge dent in the pile of washing that we
came home with. We were in Birmingham for the
Festival of Quilts and I needed to be close to be there
on Monday morning ready to start work with the 'Angels'.
Just a few images of the show earlier in the week before the
show opened.

The trade stands and exhibition areas just about ready to
be occupied.

It's really interesting being there at the beginning of the week.
Hard work and tiring though, all the time being spent on your feet!
